Do government employees earn more than private sector employees?

Finance.Townhall.com posted an informative article on July 29, 2013 comparing the total compensation packages of government employees versus private sector employees. 

The article takes into account both the cash income as well as the benefits, and the conclusion is that the average federal government worker makes $26,632 more than the average private sector worker ($114,436 vs. $87,804).
